Jammu, Jan 31 (UNI) Sharing about main attractions of ‘SARAS AJEEVIKA’ Fair event to be hosted here for the first time, Mission Director J&K Rural Livelihoods Mission, Indu Kanwal Chib on Tuesday said the national level fair will exhibit unique and famous indigenous products from various states and Union Territories of the country.
“The ‘SARAS’ fair will provide a platform for women Self Help Groups (SHGs) from rural areas of India to showcase and subsequently sell their products,” said Chib while interacting with Media at Aquaplex crown Bagh-e-Bahu, Jammu--the venue of the SARAS Mela.
“The fair from February 4 to 14 is going to witness participation of women Self Help Groups from across the country and all 20 districts of the Union Territory of J&K,” she said, adding that income generated by rural women through such platforms empower them socially and economically.
The MD was flanked by Additional Mission Director JKRLM, Mridhu Slathia.
Chib further reiterated that in addition to income generation, JKRLM is also working on the holistic development of rural women through various programmes being run by it.
Besides, she added that the Mela will provide a platform to the participants to sell and promote their self-made products.
During the interaction, the MD informed that the annual SARAS fair will be held in Jammu in which over 75 stalls and food courts will be set up at the exhibition site, aquaplex crown, near Bagh e Bahu, Jammu.
“The 11 day fair is expected to witness participation of Self Help Group women from 25 states and UTs from across the country to sell their self-made products and inventorying of items has been started at the venue,” the MD added.
