PM Modi to depart for India tonight, cutting short Jeddah visit, after Kashmir carnage

Jeddah/New Delhi, Apr 22 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is in Jeddah for bilateral talks with the Saudi leadership, will be departing for India tonight in view of the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, in which 28 tourists are reported to have been killed.
The PM, who was supposed to leave only tomorrow evening, will skip the official dinner being hosted by the Saudi leadership, and leave after the talks have concluded.
He will be departing tonight, sources said.
The PM arrived in Jeddah earlier in the day on a two-day visit.
Earlier, the PM had strongly condemned the terror attack and said the resolve to fight terrorism is unshakable and it will get even stronger.
In a post on X, the PM expressed condolences to those who lost their loved ones and said that those behind the heinous act will not be spared.
"I strongly condemn the terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. Condolences to those who have lost their loved ones. I pray that the injured recover at the earliest. All possible assistance is being provided to those affected.
"Those behind this heinous act will be brought to justice...they will not be spared! Their evil agenda will never succeed. Our resolve to fight terrorism is unshakable and it will get even stronger".
Notably, Union Home Minister Amit Shah had briefed the Prime Minister about the incident.
Shah left for Srinagar to hold an urgent security review meeting with all the agencies.
