Congress party will follow up on compensation for fishermen affected by Navi Mumbai airport project: Sapkal

Mumbai, Apr 25 (UNI) The Congress Party is committed to standing firmly with the fishing community and will follow up to get compensation for the fishermen affected by Navi Mumbai International Airport project, said Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee president Harshavardhan Sapkal today.
Addressing a meeting of the office bearers of the Maharashtra Fishermen Congress at the Congress headquarters, Tilak Bhavan here, he said that traditional fishermen in Maharashtra are facing various problems due to the "oppressive policies" of the Mahayuti government.
The fishermen are being treated unfairly as many contractors and capitalists have entered the fishing industry, and the Congress Party has consistently tried to provide justice to this section of the society, he added.
