Kharge pays homage to Lachit Barphukan on his 400th birth anniversary

New Delhi, Nov 24 (UNI) Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Thursday paid rich tributes to legendary Ahom Army General Lachit Barphukan on his 400th birth anniversary.
"Our humble homage to the epitome of courage and valour, Ahom commander, Lachit Borphukan as we celebrate his 400th birth anniversary today.
My greetings to everyone on Lachit Diwas," Kharge wrote in a tweet.
The Congress Chief said his valiant effort in the Battle of Saraighat remains an inspiration to all.
Born on November 24, 1622 in Charaideo, he was known for his extraordinary military intelligence for defeating the Mughals, thereby halting the expanding ambitions of Aurangzeb in the Battle of Saraighat.
