A Delhi Court issued production warrants against Olympian Sushil Kumar and all other accused arrested in connection of Junior wrestler Sagar Dhankar murder case

New Delhi, Jan 31 (UNI) A Delhi Court on Tuesday after hearing issued fresh production warrants against Olympian Sushil Kumar and others accused arrested in connection of Junior wrestler Sagar Dhankar murder case.
The Court directed the concerned jail Superintendent to produce all the accused persons before the Court physically.
Additional Session Judge Shivaji Anand after hearing said, " The Counsel for the accused has conceded on the point of charge and has submitted that appropriate charges may be framed against the accused persons namely Joginder @ Kala, Ankit Dabas & Vinod."
The Court said, " Today the accused persons namely Joginder @ Kala and Ankit Dabas are not produced from JC physically in the court. Issue fresh production warrants against the accused persons namely Joginder @ Kala and Ankit Dabas through concerned Jail Superintendent for the next date of hearing i.e. on 02.02.2023 with direction to produce the above said accused persons before the court physically."
The Court said in order," Prima facie Offence U/s 30 Arms Act is made out against the accused namely Vinod. Accordingly charge has been framed against him separately, to which he pleaded not guilty and
claimed trial.
Put up for framing of charge against the accused persons namely Joginder @Kala and Ankit Dabas on 02.02.2023".
In the last Court directed," Issue fresh production warrants against all the accused persons through
concerned Jail Superintendent with direction to produce all the accused persons before this court physically on 14.02.2023 & 20.02.2023."
The Court listed the matter for examination of Prosecution witnesses on14.02.2023 & 20.02.2023,
In this matter counsel for Amit Kumar has submitted before the court earlier that Amit is the victim in the present case who was mercilessly beaten by more than 20 hardened gangsters on the intervening night of 04/05.05.2021 at Chhatrasal Stadium at Model Town, Delhi.
Counsel further submitted that the applicant was having the apprehension of his life as these gangsters threatened the applicant and his family members by different sources that they will eliminate the applicant and his family, if he will give the statement against
them. The counsel further submitted that the applicant/victim and the family members of the applicant are under deep apprehension and hence,
requesting for conducting the trial/allowing the witness to depose through video conferencing in time bound manner or conducting of trial in any other
District Court other than the Rohini Court.
The Court has declined the same earlier after hearing the submission of Additional Public Prosecutor for the State that it will be very difficult to conduct the examination of witness through video conferencing or at any other District Court other than the Rohini Court.
The Court has directed that DCP concerned shall take all safety and security measures and arrangement shall be made by atleast appointing two armed police officials during the visitation of applicant/witness Amit Kumar from home to Court and after examination from Court to home for recording of his statement at Vulnerable Witness Room at Rohini Court Complex.
The court has framed charges of murder, attempt to murder, rioting, unlawful assembly and other sections including criminal conspiracy against Olympian wrestler Sushil Kumar and 17 others on October,12 in Junior wrestler Sagar Dhankar murder case.
Prosecution had alleged in the matter that the manner in which Sagar and three others were abducted and brought to Chhatrasal Stadium and after that beaten up mercilessly showing that they wanted to establish their supremacy.
Prosecution contended that there is sufficient evidence to show the intention of the accused persons to kill Sagar Dhankar.
Wrestler Sagar and Sonu were allegedly beaten up in Chhatrasal stadium on the night of 4 May 2021. Sagar had succumbed to injuries during treatment in the hospital.
Sushil Kumar along with co-accused Ajay Kumar was arrested on May 23, 2021 from outer Delhi's Mundka area.
