Turkish Govt launches aid campaign for Afghan people

Ankara, Jan 22 (UNI/Sputnik) The Turkish government has launched a campaign to raise aid for the Afghan people to provide them with basic supplies amid winter and famine, the Turkish government's official Resmi Gazete reported on Saturday.
"The Turkish government has launched a fundraising campaign for families in need in Afghanistan. The purpose of the aid campaign is to help meet the basic needs of the civilian population of Afghanistan in the face of winter and famine. The Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) has been tasked with coordinating the process," the decree signed by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said.
AFAD will open accounts in public and private banks to receive funds collected through the administrations of governors, municipalities, and other government agencies and organizations, according to the report.
