Torrent Power emerges successful bidder for Transmission project in Solapur in Maharashtra

New Delhi, Feb 27 (UNI) Power major Torrent Power Limited today said it has emerged as successful bidder for establishment of Inter-state transmission project in Solapur of Maharashtra.
Torrent Power Limited has emerged as the Successful Bidder and has received Letter of Intent from PFC Consulting Limited for Establishment of Inter-state transmission scheme “Transmission System for Evacuation of Power from RE Projects in Solapur (1,500 MW) SEZ in Maharashtra” under Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) Process.
The project has been conceived to evacuate Renewable energy with a capacity of 1,500 MW from Solapur and entails the setting up of a transmission line of approx. 44 kms from existing Solapur substation of PGCIL to Solapur substation (to be established by Torrent Power).
In due course, PFC consulting Limited will transfer the project SPV to Torrent Power. While Torrent Power owns and operates Transmission projects; the award of this project marks Torrent Power’s foray into the development of Transmission projects under the TBCB framework, a company release said.
Torrent Power is the Rs 25,694 Crs integrated power utility of the Rs 37,600 Crs Torrent Group, is one of the largest companies in the country’s power sector with presence across the entire power value chain – generation, transmission and distribution.
The Company has an aggregate installed generation capacity of 4,287 MW comprising of 2,730 MW of gas-based capacity, 1,195 MW of renewable capacity and 362 MW of coal-based capacity.
Further, Renewable projects of 977 MW are under development. Total generation capacity, including projects under advanced stages of development, is 5,264 MW. UNI SKB AKS
