TN objects AP's move to construct new dam across River Palar

Chennai, Feb 27 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu government on Tuesday objected to the Andhra Pradesh's proposal to construct a new dam across river Palar and said it went against the principles of federalism and amounted to disrespecting the Supreme Court where two suits are pending.
In a statement here in the wake of reports that the Andhra Pradesh has allocated funds and laid the foundation stone for the dam construction across Palar in Kuppam constituency, Tamil Nadu Water Resources Minister Duraimurugan urged the neighbouring state not to resort to such a move when the cases were pending before the Apex Court.
"In the interest of welfare for the two states, I urge the Andhra Pradesh government not to go ahead with the proposed dam construction", he said.
