Tension in Phagwara as members of Sikh outfits block road

Phagwara, Jan 27 (UNI) Hundreds of activists belonging to different Sikh organizations, including Damdami Taksal and farmers' organizations, organized a 'Protest March' that originated from Dana Mandi and proceeded towards Urban Estate Phagwara.
The protestors blocked vehicular road traffic near Chachoki on Phagwara-Ludhiana road in the town and staged a protest against Union Minister Som Parkash for not supporting their demands of releasing dozens of Sikh prisoners.
Tension prevailed when the two and half hour long protest march was followed by a Dharna near the Phagwara residence of Union Minister of State Som Parkash, an eleven member committee of the protesters went to Parkash’s residence to meet him and insisted on submitting the memorandum to the Union Minister outside the house, but the protesters alleged that Parkash did not come outside.
