Sri Lanka: PM to address nation as fuel stocks run short

Colombo, May 16 (UNI) Sri Lanka's new prime minister Ranil Wickremesinghe will be addressing the nation later on Monday after the country's power minister told the citizens not to join the lengthy fuel queues that have galvanized weeks of anti-government protests, Khaleej Times reported.
Prime Minister Wickremesinghe, said he would give a "full explanation" about the financial crisis that has devastated the strategic Indian Ocean island nation and plunged it into political chaos and social unrest.
Wickremesinghe is yet to find a replacement for the crucial post of finance minister, who will negotiate with the International Monetary Fund for the badly needed financial help for the country, as former finance minister Ali Sabry had held preliminary talks with the multilateral lender, but he quit along with Mahinda Rajapaksa last week.
