Southwest monsoon advances further

Pune, May 18 (UNI) Southwest Monsoon has further advanced into some more parts of southeast Bay of Bengal, entire Andaman, Nicobar Islands, entire Andaman sea and some more parts of east-central Bay of Bengal, it was reported on Wednesday.
Day temperatures were appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at a few places over Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh; at isolated places over east Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Maharashtra; above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at most places over Jharkhand; at many places over Vidarbha, west Madhya Pradesh and Bihar; at a few places over Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, east Madhya Pradesh, west Uttar Pradesh and Odisha.
They were markedly below normal (-5.1 or less) at many places over south interior Karnataka; isolated places over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal; appreciably below normal (-3.1°C to -5.0°C) at most places over Kerala and Mahe; at many places over Assam, Meghalaya and Rayalaseema; at a few places over Arunachal Pradesh, coastal Karnataka, north interior Karnataka, Telangana and coastal Andhra Pradesh; at isolated places over Sub Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim; below normal (-1.6°C to -3.0°C) at most places over Lakshadweep; at isolated places over Andaman, Nicobar Islands and near normal over rest parts of the country.
