Shardul hopeful of another historic Test series win in England

Leeds, June 17 (UNI) Indian pacer Shardul Thakur on Tuesday described India's recent Test tours of England as among the most memorable of his career, calling the 2021 series one of the best he's been part of, while expressing hopes for another historic overseas triumph in the upcoming matches.
Ahead of India's Test assignment in England, Shardul reflected on the thrilling 2021 series, which was split across two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic. "I think it was one of the fondest memories for me — one of the best Test series that I have been part of," he said.
Recalling the events, Shardul noted: "In 2021, we won a couple of games. The first one also we could have won, but unfortunately, it rained on the last day and we couldn’t chase down the total. But then we won at Lord’s, won at The Oval, and came back for the fifth Test next year with the series level."
The fast-bowling all-rounder also spoke about the challenges of playing in English conditions. "It’s very exciting to play in this part of the world where you face different challenges — the weather, for one. Sometimes it’s cloudy, sometimes it’s bright and sunny. As a player, you need to adjust your game, whether you’re batting or bowling," he observed.
Thakur also praised the infusion of young talent in the Indian side. "It’s good to have that fresh energy in the team. New youngsters coming up, new talents — it’s always exciting."
Commenting on England’s evolving style under the Bazball approach, he said, "Now that the England team is also playing a different kind of cricket, we’d like to surprise them as well. We’re here to put up a show."
On the broader goal, Thakur stated, "It’s always great to win a series away from home. If we could achieve this feat, it would be massive for the entire nation, I feel."
