Srinagar, Dec 1 (UNI) Shankaracharya Temple in Srinagar was illuminated with the logo of G20 soon after India assumed the presidency on Thursday.
Authorities in Srinagar illuminated Shankaracharya Temple overlooking the Srinagar city and Dal Lake in the Union Territory with the logo of G20 as soon as India took over the presidency on Thursday.
The logo will be displayed on the wall of the Shankaracharya Temple for seven days, officials said.
Earlier the day City Mayor, Junaid Mattu announced the illumination of Shankaracharya temple with colours of G20 logo from today.
"The Shankaracharya Temple in Srinagar, built by Adi Shankara in around 8th Century CE, making it Kashmir’s oldest temple, will be illuminated with the G20 logo and colours for a week, starting today as India takes over the Presidency of G20. G20India," Mattu tweeted.
From Kashmir to Kanyakumari as many as 200 meetings of the G20 member-states, invitees and organisations across over 50 cities in India are being planned in the run up to the G20 summit to be held in September 2023, sources said.
