Sensex zooms 1,534.16 points

Mumbai, May 20 (UNI) The BSE Sensex on Friday rallied 1,534.16 points at 54,326.39 as buying was seen across the board amid positive global cues.
The Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) too rose 456.75 points at 16,266.15.
The Sensex opened higher by 539 points at 53,331.97. During the session, it spurted 1,604 points at 54,396.53, before closing at 54,326.39, up 1,534.16 points from its previous close.
The Sensex registered the day's high and low at 54,396.43 and 53,403.29 points respectively.
The Nifty recorded the day's high and low at 16,283.05 and 16,003.85 respectively.
The sectoral indices that supported the market were realty, metal, capital goods, industrials and energy stocks.
In scrips, Dr Reddy's Lab was a star gainer, up 8.10 per cent to Rs 4,246.30 followed by Reliance Industries by 5.77 per cent to Rs 2,622.15, Nestle India by 4.74 per cent to Rs 16,863.85 and Tata Steel by 4.22 per cent to Rs 1,170.20.
The Mid Cap rose by 1.98 per cent and Small Cap by 2.14 per cent.
All 30 scrips were positive.
The Asian Markets shone as Australia was up by 1.20 per cent, China by 1.60 per cent, Hong Kong by 3.05 per cent, Japan by 1.27 per cent and Taiwan by 0.78 per cent.
