RSS chief calls for unity of Hindus to safeguard India

Bardhaman, Feb 16 (UNI) Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat on Sunday called upon the Hindu community to unite for safeguarding the country and show the world the path of peace and prosperity.
"India had been targeted since the time of Alexander but so far no outside force, even the British, could settle permanently owing to the unity in diversity of the Hindu community," Bhagwat told a massive gathering of the RSS karyakartas at the SAI Complex here in Purba Bardhaman district.
He also urged the people to join the RSS and feel the organisation from inside as there is no bar for anyone, nor any fee for the entry and each and everyone is also free to leave on his own if they find they are not fitting into it.
"Yes, if you come to the RSS you must also contribute for the betterment of India and do not expect any return," Bhagwat told the assembly, in which many women from the Matrushakti wing took part.
He said the RSS is the biggest organisation of the world as it has 70,000 branches and stressed the importance of embracing the world's diversity, saying Hindu society believes that unity itself embodies diversity.
The Sangh chief underscored the need for unity within Hindu society, saying challenges come even in good times.
He underlined the need to unite and organise Hindu society and said while problems are everywhere, one should be prepared to overcome the bottlenecks together.
"What matters is how prepared we are to face them," he said.
Bhagwat said the people often ask why you focus on only Hindu organisations and "my answer is the responsible society of the country is Hindu society. We want to unite Hindus because the true successors of India are Hindus."
“Today is not a special event. A question arises in the mind of those unaware of the Sangh. If we need to answer what the ‘Sangh’ wants then I would say that the ‘Sangh’ wants to organise a Hindu society because the responsible society of the country is Hindu society,” the RSS chief said.
Without naming Pakistan, he referred to India's partition in 1947.
"India has nature. They (a section of society) could not live with all those characteristics, so they made a separate country. Hindus live by accepting the diversity of the world, we nowadays say unity in diversity, and Hindus understand that diversity is unity," he maintained.
The RSS rally was organised after the Calcutta High Court allowed the meeting rejecting the West Bengal Police's objection citing the ongoing Class 10 examinations UNI PC SSP
