Robust voter turnout in Meghalaya prompts every party to claim victory

Shillong, April 19 (UNI) Political parties in Meghalaya have all expressed confidence of winning the seats their candidates have contested from as almost every party pointed to the robust voter turnout of about 70 per cent to claim their victory.
Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, who is also the National People’s Party (NPP) national president, said, “The voting percentage is about 70 percent. We have worked hard and let’s hope for the best and see when the results come out.”
Sangma campaigned extensively across the state for his party candidates, Agatha Sangma, who is the sitting MP from Tura Lok Sabha seat and Dr. Mazel Ampareen Lyngdoh contesting from the Shillong parliamentary seat.
