Reduce import of medical equipment: MS Valiathan

Thiruvananthapuram, May 23 (UNI) Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology (SCTISMT) should contribute more to reduce the import of medical instrument in India and focus on indigenous development of medical equipment, its founder director and National Research Professor of Government of India, MS Valiathan said.
Stressing that SCTIMST should contribute more to bring down the import of medical instrument in India, he recalled that "during the development of Chitra Valve and Blood Bag, we had no collaboration with the foreign countries or we have not taken any help from the foreign fellows."
He said this while delivering a speech at the annual convocation of the 38th batch of SCTISMT at Achutha Menon Centre for Health Science Studies Auditorium, a statement said here.
