Patna, Sep 18 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday said he was prepared to face early Lok Sabha elections if Centre decided to go for holding it before the schedule.
Kumar, while responding to a query from media persons, said the Centre had every right to hold the Lok Sabha elections before schedule. If Centre decided to go for early Lok Sabha elections, his party was prepared to face it, he added.
The Chief Minister said it would be better if Lok Sabha elections were held before its schedule. He had been asserting for the last few weeks that Centre could go for early elections, he noted.
Kumar refused to make any commitment to a query regarding the Centre's proposal to dissociate the Chief Justice of India from the committee for the appointment of Election Commissioner, saying it would be premature to make any observation on the issue. When the matter would be placed, leaders of all parties would have the opportunity to express their views, he added.
The Chief Minister asked his Deputy Tejaswi Prasad Yadav, also present on the occasion, to respond to query of media persons about newly floated opposition alliance INDIA.
Yadav in his reply said that INDIA was intact and all speculations about differences among them were baseless.
