NITES Prez Saluja flays Wipro's abrupt mail on joining office

Bengaluru, Oct 4 (UNI) The Nascent Information Technology Employees Senate (NITES) President Harpreet Singh Saluja on Tuesday criticised Wipro for abruptly sending an email asking its employees to start working from office from October 10.
Saluja said asking the employees to work from offices from October 10 is uncalled for as many of them are working from their home towns and relocating on a short notice will be difficult.
"A lot of employees are working from their hometowns, it is very difficult for them now to relocate on such short notice as they need to find accommodation, arrange for various household stuff and school admissions for kids," he said.
The company should have sent an email before a month, giving ample time to employees to relocate and take their consent and views, Saluja added.
Earlier, Wipro told its employees via email, asking them to start working from its offices and campuses in India from October 10.
"Starting October 10, Wipro offices in India will be open Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays," the company said in the email. The company will not open on Wednesdays, it added.
The company stated that it encourages its employees to work from the office at least three or four days which will help them enjoy camaraderie and team spirit of connecting in person while maintaining hybrid work flexibility.
"The team, working from the office as per client requirements, will continue to have access to our premises as per the current schedule with no change. Let's look forward to sharing ideas more freely, learning from each other and years having lunch or coffee together," Wipro said.
