Lebanon fails for 7th time to elect new president

Beirut, Nov 24 (UNI) Lebanon's parliament on Thursday failed for the seventh time to elect a president as political parties could not yet agree on a figure for the vacant presidential seat, the National News Agency reported.
No candidate obtained a two-thirds majority during the first session attended by 110 members of parliament out of 128, while the second session was not held due to a lack of quorum.
In the first session, 42 votes went to parliament member Michel Mouawad, six votes to University Professor Issam Khalife, two to former Minister Ziad Baroud, while one to Badri Daher.
The term of former President Michel Aoun ended on Oct. 31.
