Thane Consumer Redressal Commission orders Pune-based travel agent to pay compensation to complainant

Thane, Dec 19 (UNI) Concluding that there was deficiency in services and unfair trade practice, the Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission here has directed a Pune-based travel agent to refund the advance taken along with interest and also to pay compensation to the complainant.
In the order passed against the opponent ex-parte, the Commission's president Milind S Sonawane and member Poonam V Maharshi ordered one Mukesh Dilip Ahire of Sub Dekhi Duniya Tours and Travels to refund the advance of Rs 75,000 taken by him from the complainant (a resident of Dombivili) along with interest at 10 per cent per annum from the date of payment.
In the complaint, the complainant stated that she had booked a tour package of Darjeeling Gangtok-Peelling-Lachung of eight days from June 3 to June 11, 2018 for total consideration of Rs 80,000, out of which complainant had paid Rs 75,000.

Monsoon advances to most parts of Andaman Nicobar Islands

Pune, May 16 (UNI) In view of strengthening of southwesterlies in the lower tropospheric levels, fairly widespread to widespread rainfall activity and persistent cloudiness over the area; southwest monsoon has advanced into some parts of south Bay of Bengal, most part of Andaman Nicobar Islands and Andaman sea on Monday. Conditions are favourable for further advance of southwest monsoon into some more parts of south Bay of Bengal, entire Andaman Sea, Andaman Islands and some parts of eastcentral Bay of Bengal during next 2-3 days.
