No special rules for Djokovic: Aus PM

No special rules for Djokovic: Aus PM

Melbourne, Jan 5 (UNI) Australia Prime Minister Scott Morrison on Wednesday said that "there should be no special rules" for Novak Djokovic after the world no.1 got Covid-19 vaccination "exemption permission" to compete at the upcoming Australian Open.
The 34-year-old Serbian tennis player has never revealed whether he is vaccinated against Covid-19, a prerequisite to compete in Melbourne unless an exemption is granted.
"If that evidence is insufficient, then he won't be treated any different to anyone else. There should be no special rules for Novak Djokovic at all. None whatsoever," said Morrison as quoted by BBC.
On Tuesday, the Australian Open defending champion announced on social media that he will be heading to Australia to participate in the season’s first grand slam with an exemption permission.
"I’ve spent fantastic quality time with loved ones over break & today I’m heading Down Under with an exemption permission," Djokovic tweeted.
