Back-to-back WD's can trigger rain, snow over J&K: Met

Srinagar, Mar 26 (UNI) Two back-to-back Western Disturbances (WD) are likely to cause widespread light to moderate rain and snow during the next 48 hours over Jammu and Kashmir.
The Meteorological Centre Srinagar on Tuesday predicted that two back-to-back WD’s are likely to hit on March 27 evening and can cause light to moderate rain and snow at a few places over Jammu and Kashmir.
The MeT office said, “Overall, no significant weather activity till March 27 late Evening.'
The weather will remain generally cloudy with light rain/snow over higher reaches in many places during March 27–28.
It said the weather will turn generally cloudy with light to moderate rain or snow at most places from March 29 evening to March 30 evening or night, while on March 31, the weather will generally remain cloudy with intermittent light rain or snow at a few places.
The weather will generally remain dry from April 1–4, the MeT office said.
It has also issued an advisory for travelers and tourists to plan their trip accordingly, particularly on March 30.
Farmers have been advised to suspend farm operations during March 27–31. There is a possibility of thunderstorms, lightning activity, a hailstorm, and gusty winds from March 27 to 30.
There is also the possibility of landslides, mudslides, and shooting stones during the period in view of inclement weather.
The day temperature at most of the weather stations in Kashmir Valley was recorded at 7-8 degrees Celsius above normal the previous day, while the night temperature also improved above normal during the intervening nights of Monday and Tuesday.
Srinagar, the summer capital, had a low of 5.4 degrees Celsius, and it was 0.4 degrees Celsius above the normal of 5.0 degrees Celsius on Tuesday.
The tourist hot spot of Pahalgam in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district recorded a low of 0.7 degrees Celsius, and the famous ski resort of Gulmarg in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district recorded a low of 2.6 degrees Celsius during the intervening nights of Monday and Tuesday.
