Kanpur Metro gets IGBC's platinum rating

Lucknow, 24 Dec (UNI) Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) has certified all nine stations in the first phase of Kanpur Metro Project with platinum rating. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to inaugurate the first phase of the project between IIT Kanpur and Motijheel Metro Station.
IGBC, which certifies civil construction works as green system, platinum rating certificate was given by Confederation of Indian Industries to Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation's (UPMRC) Managing Director Kumar Keshav late Thursday evening. Green certificate to all nine stations of the Kanpur Metro Project is UPMRC's second achievement. Before this, all 21 stations of Lucknow Metro have been certified with IGBC's platinum rating.
On getting the certificate Kumar Keshav said, "This platinum certificate will prove to be a milestone in the progress of Kanpur Metro. We are also setting a target of achieving zero energy consumption at Lucknow and Kanpur metro stations. With reference to energy conservation we are also planning to start bench marking of the stations. This has to be kept in mind that construction work of preliminary corridor has been completed with the time schedule. Kanpur Metro has the honour of the fastest metro to be constructed in the country."
