J&K: Shri Machail Mata Yatra in Kishtwar crosses 4K mark

Jammu, May 28 (UNI) Though the pilgrimage to Shri Machail Mata officially begins on July 25, the devotees started paying visits to the revered shrine situated amid the mountainous Machail area of the Sapphire Land of Paddar Sub Division of Kishtwar District in Jammu and Kashmir.
Every year, the celebrations on the eve of Baisakhi witness the auspicious opening of the Kappat (Door) at the Shree Chandi Mata Temple which marks the beginning of one of the most significant pilgrimages in the Jammu Division, second only to the Shri Mata Vasihno Devi Yatra.
The popularity of the Shree Machail Yatra has soared in recent years, with over two Lakh pilgrims visiting last year alone.
