J&K NC seeks political reservation for displaced KPs

Jammu, Dec 24 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference on Friday appealed to the Delimitation Commission to reserve two Assembly seats for Kashmiri Pandits, as political empowerment was imperative for the displaced seven lakh community, who had to leave their homes and hearths in the most unfortunate circumstances.
"Reservation of two seats will end the decades old discrimination with Kashmiri Pandits," president of JK NC Minority Cell M K Yogi said in a statement here, after interaction with the senior functionaries of the Cell.
He said the Centre should also plead the case with the Commission to secure justice for the community.

Tremors in Shimla

Shimla, May 20 (UNI) Slight tremors measuring 3 on the Richter scale were experienced in Shimla district on Friday, India Meteorogical Department spokesperson in Himachal Pradesh said. The earthquake was recorded at 2.22 pm having its epicentre at latitude of 31.32 degree east and latitude 77.81 degree North at a depth of five km in the state capital. It was not felt by people.
