There will be strict monitoring of election expenditure in Kangra: Hemraj Bairwa

Dharamshala, Mar 26 (UNI) District Election Officer and DC Kangra Hemraj Bairwa on Tuesday said that as per the instructions for the Election Commission, while bringing and taking money worth more than 50 thousand rupees and goods worth more than 10 thousand rupees during the election process, keep the related documents, bills, etc. with you so that citizens do not face any kind of inconvenience.
Deputy Commissioner Hemraj Bairwa said that in view of the Model Code of Conduct, according to Sections 171 B and 171 C of the Indian Penal Code, if any person receives money or any other kind of gratification or gives gratification during the election process, which affects the right to vote of any person, he can be punished with one year imprisonment, a fine, or both. He said that flying squads have been formed for each assembly constituency to register a case against both the bribe taker and the bribe giver. He said that if any person gives a bribe or has any information about a bribe being given, he should immediately complain about it to the control room so that necessary action can be taken in that regard.
He has also informed all vehicle owners (except bicycles) that during the Model Code of Conduct in the state, using posters, loud speakers, and other material on vehicles to campaign in favor of any candidate without a permit is a punishable offense under the Representation of the People Act, 1951.
