Children to get admission after attaining 6-yrs of age in UP

Lucknow, April 10 (UNI) The Basic Education Department has issued guidelines regarding the enrolment of male and female students for the academic session 2024-25.
As per the guidelines, admission to class one in council, aided, recognised primary and upper primary schools in the state will be granted to a child only upon reaching the age of six years. As per the directives issued by the Director of Basic Education to the District Basic Education Officers of across the state, children below six years of age will be enrolled in kindergarten.
It may be noted that under the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act 2009, the Basic Education Department has set the target of providing 100 percent free education to children in the age group of 6 to 14 in the new academic session. Accordingly, directives have been given regarding the enrolment process for students.
