Punjab: ACB busts bribery ring, SI caught accepting bribe of Rs 35,000

Chandigarh, Mar 30 (UNI) In a significant crackdown on corruption, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) team apprehended Sub-Inspector Dinesh Kumar, stationed at Ludhiana Police Post in Jind district, for accepting a bribe of Rs 35,000.
The accused was caught red-handed on Friday while soliciting the bribe in exchange for ensuring the smooth operation of a liquor vendor's shop.
According to a government spokesperson, the ACB team received a complaint alleging that the accused sub-inspector was demanding Rs 35,000 as a monthly bribe from a liquor vendor in exchange for the smooth operations of his shop. Following an investigation into the complaint, the ACB devised a plan and apprehended the accused while accepting the bribe. This action was taken transparently before witnesses.
