Jammu AIIMS logo blend of socio-cultural spiritual ethos of the place

Jammu, Jan 12 (UNI) After approval by the Union Health Ministry, the logo of the under construction All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Jammu has been released that showcases the blend of socio-cultural spiritual ethos of Jammu, it was reported on Wednesday.
Located in tehsil Vijaypur of Samba district, around 35-Kilometer from Jammu along the national highway, the institution is expected to be completed in 2023.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid its foundation on February 3 in 2019.
“Yes, the logo of AIIMS Jammu has been released after it was approved by the Health Ministry,” Executive Director AIIMS, Jammu, Dr Shakti Gupta told UNI.
Dr Gupta said that the logo reflects the socio-cultural and spiritual ethos of the Jammu region showcasing the pictures of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Bhawan, historic Raghunath Temple, River Tawi--the lifeline of Jammu and the bridge.
Having a golden ring on the outer side that symbolizes purity and prosperity, the logo is scripted with ‘Arogyam Param Bhagyam, Swastham Sarvarthasadhanam’ in the middle, which means “Good health is the greatest blessing. Health is the means of everything.”
Dr Gupta said, “Idea behind the logo was to make places of Jammu more popular because they have special places for the people of Jammu.”
Besides identities of Jammu, the logo also carries a snake on a rod, which is called the rod of Asclepius—the god of healing in Greek mythology and the snake symbolizes rejuvenation.
“The logo will now be used in making all official correspondences,” said the Director.
Dr Gupta also revealed that presently the first batch of MBBS students are studying at AIIMS Rishikesh and will be shifted to Jammu in February and the second batch will start here at Miran Sahib in the outskirts.
“Moreover, we are also planning to begin the Out Patient Department (OPD) service in the coming months so that the patients can avail health and medical benefits,” said Dr Gupta.
Notably, 50 MBBS seats were sanctioned for AIIMS Jammu for the 2020-21 academics session.
The Government of India is working for upgrading the health infrastructure and improvement of medical education in the country, specifically in the UT of J&K.
Under construction Jammu AIIMS will be a 750 bedded hospital and will be divided equally into general and super specialty units.
