Kolkata, Mar 21 (UNI) The Trinamool Congress on Thursday "vehemently" condemned the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal and wondered how one could expect fair elections if sitting CMs and prominent opposition leaders were taken into custody weeks before the polls.
"We vehemently condemn the arrest of Arvind Kejriwal, an elected CM, especially when EC is in charge and the model code of conduct is in place," Trinamool leader in Rajya Sabha Derek O'Brien said on X.
O'Brien recalled that earlier, Kejriwal's administrative powers were "snatched through an illegal ordinance."
