PM Modi inaugurates, lays foundation stone of projects worth Rs 7200 Cr in West Bengal

Arambagh, Mar 1 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid foundation stone of multiple projects worth Rs 7200 crore in Arambagh of West Bengal on Friday.
The projects are related to various sectors like rail, ports, oil pipelines, LPG supply, and wastewater treatment across West Bengal.
Addressing the gathering, Modi noted the rapid growth of 21st-century India and the resolution of making India Viksit by 2047.
He said the government at the Centre always strived for the welfare of the poor and due to its policies and decisions 25 crore people are coming out of poverty.
The Prime Minister said the Central government strived to modernise Railways in West Bengal.
'We want to ensure that West Bengal develops at the same pace as the rest of the country.'
He said over Rs 13,000 crore had been allocated in the recent Union budget for Bengal for various projects and wanted Bengal to develop as in other parts of India.
Among these projects, the Prime Minister inaugurated Indian Oil's 518-km Haldia-Barauni Crude Oil Pipeline, which has been developed at a cost of approximately Rs. 2,790 crore.
Additionally, he laid the foundation stone of multiple projects aimed at enhancing the infrastructure at Syama Prasad Mukherjee Port in Kolkata, with an investment of approximately Rs 1000 crore.
Modi also laid the foundation stone for Raghunathpur Thermal Power Station Phase II (2x660 MW) situated in Raghunathpur, Purulia district. This coal-based thermal power project, overseen by the Damodar Valley Corporation, will employ highly efficient supercritical technology.
The establishment of this new plant marks a significant stride towards fortifying the energy security of the country.
The PM said with the allocation of more than Rs 13,000 crore to West Bengal in this year's budget, which is three times than what it was before 2014.
In the last 10 years, several railway projects which were stalled for many years have been completed.
Tarakeswar Railway station is also being upgraded under the Amrit Bharat project, he added.
