Guwahati, Mar 18 (UNI) Senior BJP leader and Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal claimed on Monday that the BJP-led alliance in Assam will secure 12 out of the 14 seats in the Lok Sabha this time.
Addressing the media after attending a meeting at Vajpayee Bhawan in Guwahati, Sonowal said that the BJP had won nine seats in the Lok Sabha last time. He stated that this number will increase to 12 and predicted that the NDA will secure 22 seats out of 25 in the North East.
'In the 2014 general election, there was indeed a challenge to the BJP in Assam. However, in the 2019 general elections, the BJP formed an alliance with the AGP and campaigned jointly, winning nine seats. At that time, I was the Chief Minister in Assam,' he added.
