First batch of polling teams with EVMs, VVPATs airlifted in Arunachal

Itanagar, Apr 15 (UNI) Election authorities in Arunachal Pradesh on Monday airlifted the first batch of polling teams with the polling materials including Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trails (VVPATs) for four remotely located polling booths in Pip-Sorang circle under Tali Assembly Constituency in Kra Daadi district bordering China.
The polling teams will be stationed at Tali, an ADC headquarters, from where they will undertake a foot march to reach the remote Pip-Sorang circle, officials said.
Tali Assembly segment which falls under Arunachal West Parliamentary Constituency, is one among the 10 Assembly seats which has been won by BJP’s Jikke Tako uncontested.
Voting will be held only for the Arunachal West Parliamentary Constituency, which is going to polls on April 19. The prestigious seat is being contested by eight candidates, including sitting MP and Union Minister Kiren Rijiju and Congress nominee Nabam Tuki.
“As of now, we have already dispatched men and materials with election teams to Tali Assembly segment for four polling stations by chopper. They will be stationed at Tali ADC headquarters. Again, they will be going to Pip-Sorang circle on foot,” Toko Babu, OSD to State’s Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), said.
There are four polling stations in the Pip-Sorang circle. The polling teams will be undertaking a foot march from Tali to Pip-Sorang to reach their respective polling booths. They are – Tedung, Pip-Sorang, Kharsang, and Korapu, he said.
The OSD stated that the remaining polling stations, which require the polling teams to undertake a foot march, will start leaving for their respective polling booths on April 17 from the respective district headquarters.
