Nadda releases BJP’s manifesto for Arunachal Assembly polls

Itanagar, Apr 10 (UNI) Bharatiya Janata Party National President Jagat Prakash Nadda, along with Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu and state president Biyuram Wahge, released the BJP’s Sankalp Patra (manifesto) for the state Assembly Election here on Wednesday.
BJP’s Lok Sabha election in-charge for Arunachal Pradesh and Assam Minister Ashok Singhal was also present.
Unveiling the manifesto for Viksit Arunachal Pradesh, Nadda said, “It is not just a document; it’s a very well deliberated document wherein all things have been deliberated in details – what we are going to do for the people of Arunachal Pradesh to make a developed state in the next five years.”
“I feel proud to say under the leadership of Chief Minister Pema Khandu and under the guidance and support of Prime Minister (Narendra) Modi, Arunachal Pradesh has witnessed a very positive change in the last five years,” he said while highlighting the various achievements of the Khandu-led BJP government over the period of time.
The BJP National President also said, same was the case with North East, adding that “before Modi came to power, North East was an isolated land plagued by bandh culture, blockade, insurgency, abductions, targeted killing, and targeted attacks – this is what we knew about the NE. Today there is a sea change and now it is known for development and growth, focusing on how to meet common man’s aspirations.”
He further said that the North East, which remained ‘neglected’ before 2014, has seen 80 percent reductions in insurgency, and areas covered under Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, AFSPA, have been reduced to 66 per cent.
While avowing that “BJP is committed to implement this manifesto in letter and spirit,” Nadda said, “The manifesto has been prepared concentrating on Prime Minister’s vision of Ashta Laxmi – peace, generation of power for self-sufficiency, to make Arunachal a best tourism destination, 5G connectivity, natural farming, sports and to enhance the potential of the state”. “Our goal is peace, prosperity and progress.”
To attain the goal of ‘Viksit Arunachal’, the document said the government will launch Arunachal Pradesh Gati Shakti Master Plan to provide multi-modal connectivity and integrated infrastructural development by integrating critical projects across roadways, railways and airways.
Besides vowing investment of Rs 2,200 crore to construct more than 1,000 km of rural roads under the Vibrant Villages Programme in collaboration with the Centre, the manifesto ‘assures’ the party government will work towards the holistic infrastructural development of insurgency-hit Tirap-Changang-Longding districts to ensure equitable development.
He further said, “In line with PM Modi, we will launch the Arun Shri Mission with a corpus of Rs 1,000 crore to upgrade the existing government schools and the quality of school education. The same way we will allocate Rs 1,000 crore for the health infrastructure, increasing the bed capacity in all Sub-Centres, CHCs, PHCs, and District Hospitals.
The party also promised to increase financial assistance under PM Kisan Yojana from existing Rs 6,000 to Rs 9,000 per year. It also promised to create 25,000 employment and self-employment opportunities for the youth and women.
It also assured establishment of an IT park in Itanagar which will generate 2,000 employment opportunities, to provide free rice grain under PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana to 8.5 lakh more people, Rs 400 worth LPG cylinder to the beneficiaries of PM Ujjwala Yojana.
Further, the party assured to revamp the Dulari Kanya Scheme to provide cumulative financial assistance of Rs 50,000 to every girl enrolling for under-graduate or vocational courses.
“We will upgrade the modernized housing facilities for the government employees and will also take care of state police personnel for their residential faculties,” he said.
Government will also launch the ‘One Tribe - One Weave’ initiative to provide comprehensive support to artisans from initial stages of product development to successful market entry.
It further vowed to annually organize the Arunachal Pradesh Cultural Mela – an exceptional celebration designed to uplift and showcase the rich cultural heritage of all tribal communities in Arunachal.
“We will make Arunachal Pradesh a destination for adventure tourism by identifying and developing adventure sports and activities such as paragliding, zip-lining, rock-climbing, mountain biking and aqua sports.
In the same way, we will construct a magnificent ‘Statue of Valour’ in a vibrant village, symbolizing the bravery and resilience of the people of Arunachal Pradesh,” Nadda said.
