New Delhi, Dec 22 (UNI) The family members of three contract workers who lost their lives in an incident at Haldia Refinery of Indian Oil on Tuesday have been contacted for extending all possible support in this hour of grief, officials said on Wednesday.
The mishap happened due to a flash fire leading to burn injuries to 44 persons out of which 3 people later succumbed to their injuries.
Among those with injuries, three contract workers have been discharged after preliminary treatment and 37 others have been admitted at multi-speciality hospitals at Kolkata and one at Tamluk for advanced medical care, a company spokesperson said on Wednesday. A high-level committee from Delhi is already at the site for inquiring into the cause of the incident.
The spokesperson added that Indian Oil was extending the best medical treatment to the 38 workers and no effort or cost would be spared to ensure their speedy recovery. The senior management of the oil marketing company is continuously monitoring the situation towards providing all necessary assistance, relief and adequate compensation to the affected workers.
On Tuesday, following the incident, the injured were provided preliminary first aid and shifted to Haldia Refinery Hospital for treatment and a green corridor was operationalised with the support of the district administration for shifting the injured and critical cases to institutes of higher medical management.
