MBBS student commits suicide, colleagues block highway

Firozabad (UP), Dec 3 (UNI) An MBBS student of an autonomous government medical college committed suicide on Saturday allegedly after being harassed by the principal after which the students created ruckus and blocked the national highway, police sources said here.
Police sources said that Shailendra (22), who was a first year student of Physiology, hanged himself in his hotel room in the afternoon. "As the news spread Shailendra was rushed to the district hospital where he was admitted in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). He died during treatment," they said.
Police sources said that after Shailendra's death the college created ruckus and blocked the Agra-Kanpur national highway. "The students have alleged that Shailendra was being harassed by the college principal and a professor due to which he was depressed and hanged himself. The agitated students were demanding to call the District Magistrate and the principal on the spot," they said.
