New Delhi, Jan 16 (UNI) As the Delhi Legislative Assembly election draw nearer, Senior AAP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia filed his nomination from the Jangpura Assembly constituency on Thursday.
Addressing the media, Sisodia expressed confidence in the people, highlighting that improved education and healthcare would shape the country’s future.
He also emphasized that his nomination marks another step forward in AAP’s mission to uphold the values of transparency and good governance, spearheaded by AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal.
“As an AAP candidate and a committed soldier of Arvind Kejriwal, I have submitted my nomination for the Jangpura Assembly seat. I am confident that the people of Jangpura will extend the same affection and respect they have shown to AAP over the years,” he said.
“If elected, I will stand with the people of Jangpura through their joys and challenges, focusing on shaping their future through improved education and healthcare. I am honoured to represent the people of Jangpura as their candidate,” Sisodia added.
Senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders Saurabh Bharadwaj and Gopal Rai also filed their nominations. Saurabh Bharadwaj is contesting from the Greater Kailash constituency, while Gopal Rai has been fielded from Babarpur.
After filing his nomination, AAP’s Delhi State Convenor and Cabinet Minister Rai said that the Assembly election campaign has officially begun across Delhi. He expressed confidence that the people of Babarpur are determined to re-elect Arvind Kejriwal’s government for its commitment to development.
“This is not just an election; it’s a fight for better education, healthcare, and the future of every family in Delhi,” he said adding that Delhiites are united in their desire for a government that works for them once again.
"The way the people of Delhi have consistently chosen an AAP government gives me confidence that they will trust us again to continue our work. We are committed to serving Babarpur and entire Delhi. The love and support of Delhi's people have always been our strength,” he said.
Cabinet Minister Bharadwaj also mentioned that AAP is fully prepared for the elections, with a clear narrative, strong leadership, and genuine intent. He criticised the BJP, saying “The party lacks an agenda and resorts to abuse, intimidation, and exploiting the Election Commission to win elections, which won’t be successful.”
It may be mentioned that the last date for filing of nominations is 17th January. Voting for the 70-member Delhi assembly will take place on February 5 and counting on February 8.
