Maha: Need to control growth of population: experts

Pune, Jul 13 (UNI) Experts at a population control workshop, organised by the School of Economics and Commerce and Mechanical Department of MIT WPU here, on Saturday expressed the need for controlling burgeoning population for widespread reach of services and employment to the people of the country.
Speaking at the workshop, Dr R Nagarajan, Professor at International Institute of Population Sciences, said, "Population growth is the biggest problem facing the country. This is creating a huge shortage of resources in the country. If this cannot be controlled, the country can be considered as an unemployed country."
"The population has exploded due to lack of birth control law in the country. Birth rate can be controlled through family planning activities. Three dozen countries across the world have controlled their population by controlling the birth rate. If the birth rate is reduced, citizens of the country will get better quality primary facilities. The overall development of the country will be boosted," he averred.
