New Delhi, Mar 29 (UNI) AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge on Wednesday expressed the possibility of winning the assembly election in Karnataka, but refused to divulge the name of the chief ministerial candidate.
Giving reasons for the Congress winning the election, Kharge said the party is making huge efforts to highlight the BJP government's "corruption" and work carried out by its workers at the booth level.
"Since we have the possibility of winning the election, therefore the BJP is sending the Prime Minister and his cabinet ministers including Home Minister to the state for campaigning," he told reporters here.
"This probably is the first time in the history of Karnataka assembly election that so many rival leaders are after Congress, but our party is strong and will win," the AICC President said.
Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi and other senior party leaders also will campaign in the state, Kharge said.
He however did not divulge the number of seats he expects the Congress to gain and added that the chief minister will be decided after the party wins the election.
"The views of the victorious MLAs will be sought and then the high command will decide. I cannot declare the exact number Congress will win but I can say that the party will win," he said.
