Increase the amount of Honorary Maharashtra Bhushan Award from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 25 lakh: Shinde

Mumbai, Jan 31 (UNI) A decision was taken on Tuesday in a meeting presided over by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde to increase the amount of Honorary Maharashtra Bhushan Award from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 25 lakh. It was also decided that efforts should be made to make this award in a new format, more impressive.
After the Cabinet meeting, a meeting was held in connection with the Maharashtra Bhushan Award. The meeting was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Cultural Affairs Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar, Chief Minister's Principal Secretary and Cultural Affairs Department Principal Secretary Vikas Kharge and member of the award committee senior scientist Dr. Anil Kakodkar among others .
A detailed discussion was held in the meeting regarding the nature of the award. About 27 names were proposed to the government for the award, which was also discussed. Some even suggested new names.
