Gujarat model accepted by people: Pralhad Joshi

New Delhi, Dec 8 (UNI) Gujarat model of governance is being endorsed and accepted by the people, Union Minister Pralhad Joshi said on Thursday as the BJP march ahead for a record victory in the Assembly polls held in the state.
"People are endorsing the Gujarat model led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi since 2000-2001. The same Gujarat model is being accepted across the country," Joshi said reacting over the BJP's landslide victory in Parliament.
"I congratulate people of Gujarat, the local party unit and workers for the biggest ever victory," Joshi added.
Trends emerging from the counting of votes show a massive win of the ruling BJP in the state of Gujarat.
The party is leading on 152 seats, while Congress is placed on 19 seats.
The Aam Aadmi Party is leading on 6 assembly constituencies in Gujarat while Independent candidates are leading on 2 seats. Samajwadi Party is leading on one seat.
The majority mark stands at 92 in the 182 seat Gujarat Assembly.
Union Minister of State for Railways and Textiles Darshana Jardosh termed 'development' as the main reason behind the success of the BJP.
The elections to the 182 member Gujarat Assembly were held in two phases- December 1 and December 5- with a total voter turnout of 66.38 per cent.
Exit polls also predicted a clear victory for the BJP.
The state, that traditionally has remained a battlefield between BJP and Congress, witnessed the entry of a third party- the Arvind Kejriwal led Aam Aadmi Party for the first time.
The BJP had won 99 seats and the Congress had won 77 seats in 2017.
