Former Electrical DGM sentenced to three years imprisonment

Bhubaneswar, May 16 (UNI) Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Baripada convicted a former DGM, Electrical of Baripada division in a trap case and sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 3 years and to pay fine of Rs.15,000.
The court on Monday ruled that Jasobanta Narayan Choudhury, the Ex-Deputy General Manager, Electrical, EHT (O&M) Division, Baripada in default of payment of fine, has to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of eight months for the offence U/s 7 Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
The Court further sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 5 years and to pay fine of Rs.25,000/ and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of one year for the offence U/s 13(2) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 r/w 13(1)(d).

Those suspended are officers-in charge of Saktipur and Beldanga police stations in Murshidabad district. They failed to contain violence on April 17 in their respective jurisdiction.
