Film Phule should be shown in every school, college, cinema hall in Maha : MP Gaikwad

Mumbai, Apr 26 (UNI) Mumbai Congress president and MP Varsha Gaikwad on Saturday demanded that the film 'Phule' be made tax-free in Maharashtra and a special screening of the film should be organized in schools in the state, especially girls' schools.
In her letter sent to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, MP Gaikwad stated that, the film 'Phule' is an inspiring work of art based on the life, struggle and thoughts of Krantisurya Mahatma Jyotiba Phule and Krantijyoti Savitrimai Phule.
The Phule couple opened the doors of education to women and the underprivileged, and for this they had to struggle a lot. Their struggle should be understood by the current generation and there is an opportunity to show it through the film Phule. Therefore, she has said that this film should be tax-free so that it reaches maximum people.
She further stated that Mahatma Phule and Savitri Mai showed a new direction to society by fighting for education, equality and social justice in very difficult times. They not only educated women but also made them aware of self-respect and self-government. All the credit for me and many women like me getting the opportunity to get an education and work in the political field goes to Mahatma Jyotiba Phule and Savitri Mai, who took the initiative to educate the disadvantaged sections of society and freed them from the shackles that were the burden of centuries.
Today, women are working on par with men in all fields, it has been possible because of the Phule couple and we also have some social responsibility towards them, she added.
