Director Maruthi recalls his first meeting with Prabhas as 'like meeting God'

Hyderabad, June 17 (UNI) Renowned South Indian film director Maruthi considers his first meeting with megastar Prabhas as akin to seeing God.

His directorial "The Raja Saab" is being presented as Prabhas's first full-fledged horror entertainer and is produced under the People Media Factory banner.

Maruthi recounted the film's inception, explaining that he was initially developing a project with Gopichand when the destiny intervened, "My journey with The Raja Saab began when UV Vamsi called and asked if I’d like to do a film with Prabhas. Of course, I said yes. He asked me to fly to Mumbai and meet Prabhas. Meeting him felt like meeting God. He warmly received me and said, ‘Call me Darling.’ He told me he loved my films like 'Prema Katha Chitram' and 'Bhale Bhale Magadivoy', and wanted to make a film like that with me." From here, a deep bonding was formed between the two of us.

Sharing a personal moment from the early stages of the film, Maruthi said, “My previous film, Pakka Commercial, didn’t work and the committed producer for this project backed out. But Prabhas stood by me. Even I felt dejected at one point and thought of sending a text to Prabhas gaaru saying, ‘Darling, let’s collaborate some other time.’ But then, in the evening, Prabhas called me and discussed what all he liked in the script. Then I felt, this man is trusting me so much and what is the point of backing out now! I came to this industry to prove something. That’s why I decided to take up the project and from there, it shaped up like this.”

He further revealed that Prabhas is deeply invested in every aspect of his films, from tracking fan-made memes to late-night calls to discuss teasers. "I often share fans’ social media posts about the film with Prabhas. He genuinely cherishes his fans. He may not meet you often in person, but I’ve seen how tirelessly he works to give you the best movies. He checks every detail about the film and always says, ‘Our fans are wonderful, and we must give them a wonderful film.' This time, we wanted to showcase a ‘Bujjigadu’-style Prabhas in a pan-India format."

The film 'The Raja Saab' is directed by Maruti, while it is produced by Vishwa Prasad under the banner of People Media Factory. Music for the film is scored by Thaman S. This pan-India film will feature Prabhas alongside Sanjay Dutt, Malavika Mohanan, Nidhi Agarwal and Riddhi Kumar. The film is scheduled for a grand pan-India release released on December 5, in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam languages.
