Dua Lipa, Saoirse Ronan rumoured to star in Greta Gerwig’s 'Barbie'

Los Angeles, May 19 (UNI) Hollywood abuzz with rumours that Oscar-nominated actress Saoirse Una Ronan and Grammy winning British pop star Dua Lipa have joined forces in actor-director Greta Gerwig’s upcoming romantic comedy “Barbie".
Indie Wire confirmed the news on their Instagram: “Oscar nominee Saoirse Ronan and British pop star Dua Lipa are rumored to be joining Greta Gerwig’s #Barbie.
"Ronan and Dua would join an already stacked ensemble cast including, Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, Simu Liu, Kate McKinnon, Issa Rae, Will Ferrell and more.”
While most of the details regarding the film are currently under wraps, fans were able to get a first look at Margot Robbie in character as Barbie at CinemaCon last month, and it was revealed that Ryan Gosling will be playing her partner Ken.
A film insider told The Sun: “Dua is making waves in both music and movies.
“She really impressed in Argylle and word spread around Hollywood about how good she was.
“Now she has joined the cast of Barbie alongside big names including Margot, Ryan Gosling, Will Ferrell and Saoirse Ronan.
“Although Argylle is a big film in its own right, Barbie will be a breakthrough part for Dua because there is so much hype around it.
“Dua is quickly proving there is far more to her than just being a pop star. She has an exciting future ahead of her in films.”
According to NYT, the film will feature multiple versions of Barbie and Ken dolls with Marvel actor Simu Liu and Sex Education star Ncuti Gatwa will be playing alternate versions of Ken in the film. The film will release on July 21, 2023.
