Delhi's law and order needs improvement, Yogi should guide Shah: Kejriwal

New Delhi, Jan 24 (UNI) Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Friday appealed Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to guide Union Home Minister Amit Shah in improving deteriorating law and order situation in the national capital.
Addressing a press conference, Kejriwal said, “Yogi Adityanath had visited Delhi on Thursday and raised a valid issue that resonated with the people of the city that is the crumbling law and order situation in Delhi, and AAP fully agrees with his concerns.”
“Gangsters are roaming freely in the capital. Delhi is reportedly divided into 11 territories by major gangster groups, who are openly extorting money from traders,” he added.
The former Chief Minister further claimed that gang wars are taking place on Delhi’s streets, making it difficult for women to step out of their homes.
“On average, 17 children and 10 women are kidnapped daily in Delhi. Incidents of stabbings, murders, chain-snatching, thefts, and robberies are rampant, creating an atmosphere of fear across the city,” Kejriwal said.
The AAP National Convenor emphasized that Delhi's law and order situation directly falls under the jurisdiction of Home Minister Amit Shah.
He said, “If Yogi Adityanath has successfully improved law and order in Uttar Pradesh, he should guide Shah on how to do the same in Delhi.”
Kejriwal requested Adityanath to advise Amit Shah on necessary measures to eliminate gangster activities in the capital.
The former CM also criticized Shah, alleging that the Home Minister is preoccupied with buying MLAs, toppling governments, and breaking political parties rather than focusing on maintaining law and order.
