Cyclone Remal causes widespread destruction in Mizoram

Aizawl, May 29 (UNI) Cyclone Remal, which struck Mizoram on Monday night, has resulted in deaths of 34 people in the district and left a trail of devastation, particularly in northern parts of the state.
State Disaster Management and Rehabilitation Department officials reported extensive damage to buildings and structures caused by heavy rain and gusty squalls. Detailed damage assessments are currently being compiled.
In Aizawl district alone, 127 homes have been destroyed, with 28 classified as completely damaged, 53 as severely damaged, and 46 as partially damaged. A total of 163 homes have been evacuated.
