COVID-19 claims 19 lives in Chhattisgarh

Raipur, Jan 27 (UNI) Nineteen patients succumbed to the novel coronavirus in Chhattisgarh over the past 24 hours during which 4,645 fresh instances of infection were detected following analysis of 43,754 samples even as 6,517 individuals recuperated thereby making the number of active cases decline to 27,290 though the positivity rate rose to 10.62 per cent; Health Department sources said.
The district-wise break-up of fatalities was Raipur and Durg five each; Rajnandgaon and Bilaspur two each; Bemetara, Dhamtari, Balodabazar-Bhatapara, Mahasamund and Korba one each. Durg reported the highest 893 new patients, Raipur 774, Raigarh 275, Rajnandgaon 233, Dhamtari 224, Kanker 197, Kondagaon 186, Korba 163, Bilaspur 152, Balod 135, Janjgir-Champa 85, Surguja 65, Jashpur 39 and Koriya 51.
