Mumbai, Oct 1 (UNI) The state-level “Ek Tarikh Ek Taas” (One Date One Hour) campaign, launched on eve of Mahatma Gandhi's birth anniversary, received unprecedented response from the public with citizens participating in large numbers in this cleanliness drive at more than 72,000 places in Maharashtra, both urban and rural, on Sunday.
A step towards beautiful Maharashtra was taken at Girgaum Chowpatty in south Mumbai, where state Governor Ramesh Bais, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and dignitaries along with enthusiastic citizens and students, donated labour with brooms in hand and launched the state-level campaign “Ek Tarikh Ek Taas” for cleanliness.
Minister Deepak Kesarkar, chief secretary Manoj Saunik, commissioner and administrator of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation Dr Iqbal Singh Chahal, principal secretary of Urban Development Department K H Govind Raj, senior cricketer Dilip Vengsarkar, Consul General of Israel Kobbi Shoshani, director general of Coast Guard Kailash Negi, film stars Padmini Kolhapure, Juhi Chawla, Subodh Bhave and others were present for inauguration of the campaign at Girgaum Chowpatty.
